✅ Check the simple stuff first
- Make sure the patient is safe — swap in a backup unit if you need to.
- Reproduce the complaint yourself and write down exactly what you see (screen, alarm, code).
- Check power, battery, cables, accessories, and settings before ordering parts.
- Then open the service manual above and follow its troubleshooting section.
🛠️ Common faults for Plum 360 (7)
Distal occlusion alarms source ↗
- Check the distal line for kinks/closed clamps
- Resolve, then backprime or open/close cassette door
- If 'pump too high above patient', lower pump nearer heart level
Cassette test failure source ↗
- Clear proximal occlusion/air
- Open and close cassette door, backprime
- Replace administration set
Battery alarms source ↗
- Plug into AC
- 'Service battery / replace pump' (N56/N57): send infuser for repair
Proximal occlusion at startup (N183/N184/N185) or during delivery (N188–N191) source ↗
- Look for kinks and closed clamps; if all clamps are open, air in the cassette can cause backpressure: backprime
- Open the cassette door completely and close it to re-run the integrity test
- Secondary syringe needs free space for backprimed fluid; check the syringe size
Proximal air (N230/N231/N232) source ↗
- Backprime (System Operating Manual section 4-21); check the syringe size against the set guidelines
Distal occlusion auto-restart (N192) source ↗
- Have the patient move their arm; the alarm clears within 60 s before max retries
- Otherwise check the distal line for kinks
Lockout (N255) source ↗
- Enter the code to unlock
🔢 Plum 360 error codes (22)
| Code | Meaning | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| E301 | Audio alarm failure | Power off; replace/repair infuser source ↗ |
| E302 | Backlight voltage out of range | Power off; replace/repair infuser source ↗ |
| E325 | Battery voltage above limit | Power off and on; replace pump if it continues source ↗ |
| N180 | Distal occlusion during backprime/cassette check | Check distal line, resolve, backprime or reopen door source ↗ |
| N186 | Distal occlusion after max auto-restarts | Check line and site, restart source ↗ |
| N187 | Too much backpressure (pump too high) | Lower pump toward heart level, press START source ↗ |
| N233/N234 | Distal air-in-line exceeded threshold | Open cassette door and follow distal air-in-line procedure source ↗ |
| N250 | Door opened during delivery | Close door with cassette inserted source ↗ |
| N251 | Cassette test failure | Resolve occlusion, reopen door, backprime; replace set source ↗ |
| N252 | Depleted battery | Plug into AC now source ↗ |
| N58 | Low battery | Plug into AC source ↗ |
| N56/N57 | Battery/charging circuit needs service | Keep on AC; send for repair ASAP source ↗ |
| N108 | Door opened during Delayed Start | Close the door with the cassette inserted source ↗ |
| N192 | Distal occlusion, auto-restart in progress | Check the distal line; it clears itself if resolved within 60 s before max retries source ↗ |
| N102 | No input for 2 min after power-on | AUDIO PAUSED; continue programming source ↗ |
| N190/N191 | Proximal occlusion line A during delivery | Open clamps; if open, air backpressure: backprime source ↗ |
| N188/N189 | Proximal occlusion line B during delivery | Correct and restart line B, or clear the program or open the door source ↗ |
| N183 | Prox occlusion line B at startup | Syringe on the secondary port with free space; line unclamped; backprime or open/close the door source ↗ |
| N184/N185 | Prox occlusion line A at startup | Backprime or open/close the door fully; check syringe size source ↗ |
| N230/N231/N232 | Proximal air line A+B / B / A over threshold | Backprime; check syringe size source ↗ |
| N107 | Bolus complete on line A (Nurse Callback) | AUDIO PAUSED source ↗ |
| N255 | STOP pressed or door opened while locked | Enter the unlock code source ↗ |
🧰 Common checks for Infusion Pumps (5)
Occlusion source ↗
- Check for closed clamps/stopcocks, kinks, IV site patency
- Check pump height vs patient (LVP)
Air-in-line source ↗
- Look for small bubbles; disconnect and re-prime
Door/cassette/syringe loading source ↗
- Close door with set seated; check syringe clamp, flange and plunger holders
Battery/AC source ↗
- Run on AC; replace/maintain battery; battery service alarms → repair
Device/system error source ↗
- Power cycle once; if it repeats remove from service
