Stuck? Start here

✅ Check the simple stuff first
  1. Make sure the patient is safe — swap in a backup unit if you need to.
  2. Reproduce the complaint yourself and write down exactly what you see (screen, alarm, code).
  3. Check power, battery, cables, accessories, and settings before ordering parts.
  4. Then open the service manual above and follow its troubleshooting section.
🛠️ Common faults for LIFEPAK 20 (9)

Service indicator LED on source ↗

  • Record codes (date/time/extension) from Service Log, select CLEAR LOG, power off
  • Run the PIP; if it passes code was likely EMI/ESD
  • If LED returns, look up code in Service Code Table; repeat PIP after repair

Beeps when turned off source ↗

  • Connect to AC power or disable the AC Loss Alert alarm

Display on but no power-on LED / frozen at power-on / continuous reset source ↗

  • Check W17/W18 UI flex cables
  • A06 UI PCB, A03 Therapy PCB; continuous reset → A01 System PCB

Printer not printing / light print source ↗

  • Run printer test, use proper paper
  • Check 3.3 V on pins 14 & 16 of J38 test connector on A06 UI PCB: higher → replace W14 printer flex; lower → A12 printer or A06

No backup battery operation source ↗

  • Replace E09 battery; check E08 power module

Auto/user test can't complete; energy out of tolerance source ↗

  • Rerun with proper test-load shorting; check test plug/shorting bar and QUIK-COMBO cable continuity
  • Check W01 Therapy Connector; perform defibrillator calibration
  • Abnormal energy: E06 inductive resistor should be <5 Ω

Low patient impedance on 3:00 AM test source ↗

  • If tested into 50 Ω load, rerun with correct test plug; then PIP
  • If it fails, A01 System PCB

No sync mark source ↗

  • Paddles channel: therapy cable, W01
  • Lead channel: noisy ECG, ECG cable, W06 ECG connector, A02 Patient Parameter PCB

Pacer won't turn on source ↗

  • Verify manufacturer configuration bit
  • Run keypad test; elastomer keypad / A06 UI PCB
🧰 Common checks for Defibrillators (1)

Won't charge or deliver shock source ↗

  • Isolate controls: try paddles vs. pads vs. front-panel buttons
  • Check pad/paddle contact and cables (impedance disarm)
  • Check battery / run on AC; slow charge often = battery
  • Read stored failure codes in service mode before replacing therapy module
