✅ Check the simple stuff first
  1. Make sure the patient is safe — swap in a backup unit if you need to.
  2. Reproduce the complaint yourself and write down exactly what you see (screen, alarm, code).
  3. Check power, battery, cables, accessories, and settings before ordering parts.
  4. Then open the service manual above and follow its troubleshooting section.
🛠️ Common faults for TotalCare (6)

Bed functions not working source ↗

  • Check the siderail battery status: the battery may be drained, so plug into AC
  • Service Required indicator flashing means a malfunction was detected: refer to the service manual

Battery Low indicator, or Low appears within 4 h of unplugging source ↗

  • Low flashes and a tone sounds every 2 min on battery; Off means too low to run
  • If Charged goes to Low within 4 h consistently, replace the battery

Inaccurate patient weight source ↗

  • Bed level; head and foot ≤30°; clear lines and walls; patient centred; siderails up
  • Use Add/Remove Items before changing equipment; don't weigh during percussion/vibration
  • Spec: ±1% of weight; accuracy is reduced above 400 lb

Pulmonary therapy (rotation, P&V, low airloss) won't start source ↗

  • Module fully engaged in the manifold: the handle folds only when it's seated and the door closes only when the handle is folded
  • Confirm the GCI and siderail show the module installed

CPR doesn't flatten / surface won't Max-Inflate source ↗

  • On AC loss only the head lowers and the surface won't Max-Inflate: use a cardiac board

Surface air hose / reinstall issues source ↗

  • Match the colour-coded quick-disconnect hoses to the manifold; extend the surface fully to the footboard
🧰 Common checks for Hospital Beds (1)
