✅ Check the simple stuff first
- Make sure the patient is safe — swap in a backup unit if you need to.
- Reproduce the complaint yourself and write down exactly what you see (screen, alarm, code).
- Check power, battery, cables, accessories, and settings before ordering parts.
- Then open the service manual above and follow its troubleshooting section.
🛠️ Common faults for BeneHeart D3/D2 (6)
Won't charge from front-panel Charge button source ↗
- Try charging from external paddles: if that works, keypad board is faulty
- Check silicone keypad for damage/dislocation; replace keypad board
Won't charge/shock from paddles source ↗
- Reseat paddles
- Test with pads; if pads work, replace paddles
- Check therapy-module wiring; replace therapy module
Charges slowly source ↗
- Replace battery or run on external power
- Then CPU/power management board, then therapy module
Charges but energy auto-disarms source ↗
- Patient impedance too high/low: ensure good pad/paddle contact
- Replace pads, paddles or pads cable; then therapy module
Won't power on source ↗
- Check AC connection / battery charge
- Check power switch–keypad–power management cables
- Replace power switch/keypad, AC/DC board, or CPU/power mgmt board
'Defibrillation malfunction' at power-on source ↗
- Re-upgrade configuration files
- Replace therapy module
🔢 BeneHeart D3/D2 error codes (8)
| Code | Meaning | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| 1–11 | Therapy-module power-on self-test failure (CPU/RAM/ROM/watchdog/ADC/ASIC) | Therapy-module code; read via Service Mode > Failure Code and follow service manual section 6 (typically therapy module repair/replacement); remove from service source ↗ |
| 45–48 | Therapy-module abnormal reset / M3–M0+ communication error | Therapy-module code; read via Service Mode > Failure Code and follow service manual section 6 (typically therapy module repair/replacement); remove from service source ↗ |
| 51–62 | Defibrillation charge/discharge fault (capacitor voltage out of range, charge not done in 25 s, overvoltage, self-discharge fault) | Therapy-module code; read via Service Mode > Failure Code and follow service manual section 6 (typically therapy module repair/replacement); remove from service source ↗ |
| 56 | Charging not completed within 25 s after starting | Therapy-module code; read via Service Mode > Failure Code and follow service manual section 6 (typically therapy module repair/replacement); remove from service source ↗ |
| 63–68 | Impedance calibration error | Therapy-module code; read via Service Mode > Failure Code and follow service manual section 6 (typically therapy module repair/replacement); remove from service source ↗ |
| 71–78 | Pacing fault (power, relay, rate, current, voltage, overcurrent) | Therapy-module code; read via Service Mode > Failure Code and follow service manual section 6 (typically therapy module repair/replacement); remove from service source ↗ |
| 201–232 | Function self-test failure (AD, clock, charge, discharge circuit, impedance detection) | Therapy-module code; read via Service Mode > Failure Code and follow service manual section 6 (typically therapy module repair/replacement); remove from service source ↗ |
| 260–267 | Internal power-rail failure (5V7, ±5 V, +18 V, 3V3, AVCC/AVSS, ±2V5) | Therapy-module code; read via Service Mode > Failure Code and follow service manual section 6 (typically therapy module repair/replacement); remove from service source ↗ |
🧰 Common checks for Defibrillators (1)
Won't charge or deliver shock source ↗
- Isolate controls: try paddles vs. pads vs. front-panel buttons
- Check pad/paddle contact and cables (impedance disarm)
- Check battery / run on AC; slow charge often = battery
- Read stored failure codes in service mode before replacing therapy module
